Another SCS Card Swap

I mailed off the last SCS card swap I had to do. Actually it was a card kit. It had a long list of components to the kit. I hope I got most of them. I made up a sample, took a picture of it, made copies of the picture and included it in the kit.

I'm not sure if I am happy with the card. It is really not my style of cards. I think this is maybe the last SCS card swap I will do. I did 4 SCS card swaps, 1 for A Muse and then an image swap for a small stamp company in Pennsylvania. By the time you get everything put together and mailed, a lot of time is involved and then there's the expense of mailing them. You have to include a stamped return envelope with it too. The one I mailed today cost me over $5 in postage. That doesn't seem like a lot, however, if you're doing several, the postage adds up after awhile. They are fun. Now I just have to sit back and wait for the cards that will be mailed to me.

SCS & A Muse Card Swaps

I uploaded some pictures of cards that I have made for different card swaps I found on Splitcoaststampers and also one I did for A Muse Art Stamps. Since Blogger is not cooperating with me in uploading my pictures onto my blog, I am sending you that read my blog, a link from Facebook to view them.

I am hoping this works. If this works then I will do the same for the cards we made at our August 29th Shoebox swap.

Card Swap on Saturday, August 29th

I fully intended to have the pictures of the cards we made on my blog. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, I still can't upload pictures without them being distorted. I am so frustrated!! I don't know why I can't do that. Everything worked fine while I uploaded pictures to my other blog while we were on vacation. And then after we got home, I started having problems.

Well, about our card swap. There were 16 ladies altogether. We had 3 ladies drive in from Oroville, 1 lady came from Vacaville, 1 from Galt and 1 from Woodland. There were 3 from the Elk Grove area.

We had a holiday theme and some really awesome cards were made. The first prize went to Alex from Oroville with a Halloween card. Second prize went to Joyce from Elk Grove with a Halloween card and third prize went to Kelly from Chico with a cute Christmas card. I will put the pictures on Facebook, you can friend me if you care to look at the cards. Then there were 4 honorable mentions, 1 to Candice from Rancho Cordova for a Thanksgiving card, 1 to Jenni from Vacaville for a birthday card, 1 to Jo from Elk Grove with a very elegant Christmas card and the last honorable mention to Karen with a fun Halloween card.

Our potluck was so good. We had 2 long tables put together and it was overflowing with hot dishes, salads and desserts. Our next get together is October 24th. The theme hasn't been decided on yet, people are to vote on several options.

There was a boo boo or two that occurred, however, we didn't let them bother us and had a fantastic day. I was absolutely done in by the time I got home. It took me a couple of days to get things put away, I still have baskets that need to be put away in my clothes closet. I will evidently get it all put away. :))

Sacramento Area Shoebox Swappers (SASS)

My goodness, it has been over a month since I updated this blog. It's not like I don't have stuff to download on here -- its more about finding the time to do it.

This Saturday is the second SASS card swap and I am hosting it here at the mobile home park where we live. We will be using the clubhouse and 15 ladies will be participating. They are coming from around the Sacramento area including Oroville, Woodland and Vacaville.

These kinds of events are posted on Splitcoast Stampers which is a web site for stampers and other paper crafters. Its not necessary to be a member of SCS, however it helps in order to get updates from any events a person is interested in following.

If you don't know what a Shoebox Card Swap is, each one attending makes up a card sample and then makes up kits of all the materials needed to make the card. Everything is brought to the swap in a shoebox or basket. We spend the day making each others card and go home with, in this case, 15 cards. The theme is Holiday Cards so there will be cards for Halloween, Thanksgiving/Fall, Christmas and Birthday.

We have a potluck lunch too.

I'm excited to see the cards everyone has made.

AMuseapalooza Classes

Wow, it was a very long day!! I left the house at 9:30 this morning and got home at 8:30 pm. I had registered to take 2 classes, ended up taking a third class. So I had a class from 10 am to 12 noon, added the 1 pm to 3 pm class which got over just before 4 pm, then I took the 6 pm to 8 pm class. By the time the 1 pm class was over, I was starved so went to go get a late lunch. I got back to The Paper Garden about 5:30 pm and hung around until the 6 pm class started.

Between those three classes, I made 12 cards and a gift box with matching tag. Some of the cards I need to finish up and then I can take pictures and post them here. All the classes were fun. There was actually 4 classes today, the one I didn't take was from 4 pm to 6 pm. Tomorrow Julie is teaching 3 classes. I am sure she was totally wiped out this evening. She didn't have a moment for lunch. She had gotten a breakfast sandwich this morning and nibbled on it when she could sneak a minute.

There is an empty store next to The Paper Garden so that's where the classes were held. There were 5 tables set up with 4 people per table. We had a couple of tables with 5 people.

In celebration of the release of the new 2009 AMuse Christmas stamps there will be Make 'n Takes all next week at The Paper Garden. I hope to be able to get down and do a few of them if not all of them.

Well, I am going to lay this ole tired body down and get some much needed rest/sleep. Talk to you all later.

AMuseapalooza

Today is the start of AMuseapalooza. Some of you are probably thinking what in the world is that?? Today AMuse Art Stamps of Seattle, WA releases their new Christmas stamps and workshops are being held all over the country to make cards using the new stamps.

Julie Ebersole, who is the lead designer for AMuse, is in Sacramento this weekend to teach several classes at The Paper Garden. I took a couple of the classes last year and so wanted to do it again this year. Julie is not only very creative, she is also a very entertaining person to be around.

Her first class is Julie's Favorites where she will share some of her favorite AMuse images, tricks, tips and techniques for simple, striking cards. (I took this off of The Paper Garden's newsletter). It is from 10am to 12 noon. The second class I am taking is AMuse Holiday Greetings and Wraps. It is from 6pm to 8pm. "These distinctive single layer cards and gift wrap with matching tags will feature the AMuse Holiday '09 release. Cards are designed for easy mass production without sacrificing style and flair".

I am looking forward to these classes. This year The Paper Garden will be using the space next to them that was vacated by the business occupying that space earlier this year. So the classes will have more students than the classes last year.

I haven't taken any classes for some time now so this will be fun. Hopefully I will see some ladies I got to know from other classes I've taken in the past.
